I brought this discussion up because it has been said (supposedly from school of instruction) that the only requirement to move to the next seat is that you must be proficient in 1 degree more than you are at the present time. If you are sitting in the Senior Wardens chair and are not proficient in the 1st degree yet, you just need to pass off on the first degree to sit as master. I feel this is very wrong and detrimental to the fraternity, and a travesty to the brothers, and the past masters of the lodges. I would surely hope that anyone who wishes to pursue the journey to the east will honor those who have been there before by actually learning all that the lodge must perform at any given time.
