You are welcome . Masonicinfo.com is a great site that debunks many of the myths , lies and misinterpretations that the anti-masons try to use aganst .

Mollyl , I'm kind of curious . Is your husband thinking of becoming a Freemason ? Or is this simply to get a better understanding of our fraternity ? I think it's great that you've taken an interest in Masonry , especially so if your husband wants to join us and you want to be more informed .
I only ask this because , not long ago , we initiated a young man and then never heard from him again . When I called to check on him he informed me that his wife would not allow him to go any further and made him drop out because she thought we were a cult . The only information she looked at was from anti-masonic web sites and took them for their word without looking into both sides of the issue .

I am delighted to have been helpful. Everything in Masonry is splattered out all over the internet, and in books. Everything we stand for, our statement of purpose, etc, is out there for all the world to see, with very little effort.
Are you interested in petitioning for co-ed Masonic group? Or is your husband interested in Masonry? Here is another link that you may find useful: Freemasonry Explained

Absolutely. But people don't realise that information is available because this 'secret society' thing discourages them from looking. |

Thank you cemab4y for all those links. I didn't realise there were so many opportunities for women, though I was aware of some. I think it will be a long time before the groups for woman are perceived to be of equal status though.

There is alot of tradition as befits an ancient order, but there are lots of ways Masons have changed, wouldn't you agree? You don't have to be a mason to join, you are wearing trousers and not the robes masons started with, you drive cars to your meetings, and if I may say, the suits you wear are a relatively new innovation. Why can't women be another innovation?

Women can indeed become Free-Masons and have been for many years. There are some female only Grand Lodges and others that are mixed gender. The present Grand Master of Washington DC's wife is also a Free-Mason.
