Does your lodge have any "open meetings"?

Does anyone have open meetings , and for what reasons ?

That depends on what you mean by "open meeting"

We have a event open to non-masons that our Grand Lodge terms a friend-to-friend night. Where we invite people out who we know and have expressed interest. We give them an overview of masonry and what we do in the lodge, try to have a good time of it then go up stairs for a festive board.

What I was getting at was open officer installations and award nights . Open lodge ,then go to refreshment so the friends and families can come up to watch .

Ours in Michigan allows this. My wife was there when I was placed in the JW chair.

The only time that I ever remember this happening, was for the cornerstone laying and dedication of our lodge building. It was a open air, public ceramony with masonic ritual.

No, not that I know of.

My feeling is that if you have a certain level of "unknown" it keeps some out of the group who would have less then positive ieas about what we do. If people are so freaked out by rumor then they probly have a fear of commitment.

yes, most Lodge installations are semi-public, where family and friends are invited. Its at the discretion of the WM.

We have 2 open houses a year, called Square and Compass Day, we swing our doors wide open and let the public in, we answer all questions and show off our lodges.
