Belt buckle

My grandmother gave me my late grandfathers Masonic belt buckle on Easter Sunday. My question is how long do the buckles last? I would assume they last longer than the belt. And speaking of the belt how long do they last with the snaps. This question sounds odd to me as I type it. However, I have never had a belt that you could change the buckle out of an think the snaps would wear out faster than a normal belt. Thanks for you responses and sorry for rambling.

The buckle should last longer than the belt. The snaps should not be much if an issue unless you change the buckle very often. I have a buckle from the civil war that I could wear if I really wanted to. Leather can last for a long time as well.

The construction is key. A well designed buckle can be usable for hundreds of years. (Like this one I was given by Moses... :D)
