Default Shriners give 136 local disabled children perfect day

MANSFIELD -- Levi Carrington of Crestview High School petted Pearl, a 16-year-old miniature horse, Thursday at the Richland County Fairgrounds.
Pearl's owner, Bellville's Gaylee Wetzel, told Carrington and his five classmates Pearl likes people.

"Pearl's likely to climb up and sit on your lap," Wetzel said.
Pony rides and hot dogs were among the treats for 136 children with disabilities during the Mansfield Shrine Club's 32nd picnic and fun day.

Children lined up for rides on horses big and small. Students could also ride in a Richland County Sheriff's Department cruiser, take miniature donkey and cart rides, zoom around in golf carts, or bounce along on a wagon pulled by a pair of Belgian horses.
