Residents of Britannia House are sitting pretty thanks to the Petone Lodge. The lodge donated over $2,000 to Britannia house on Wednesday for the purchase of four new comfortable chairs. The Udy St based lodge raised $1,000 itself, with the nationwide Freemason charity picking up the rest. The charity complements moneys raised by local lodges for good causes. “This is absolutely marvellous,” says Britannia House Board of Trustees Chair Maureen Freeman. “We’ve got chairs and the money to pay for them. “Without people like you we couldn’t keep going,” she says of the masons.
