It was a love of history and their rich heritage in Grant County that had local Masons put forth an "overwhelming vote" to stay in their location at 418 S. Boots St.
It was a vote that led to the second major renovation project for the building that's nearly a century old. "This building was built for the Masonic lodge, and we just wanted to keep it this way," said Shane Gibson, incoming master of Samaritan Lodge 105 of Free and Accepted Masons. He said the group recently was faced with a choice: Stay in their current facility and put forth the effort to renovate it, or move elsewhere, to a smaller building that would cut down on heating costs. "Financially, one of the most expensive things we could do was stay here," Gibson said. Chronicle-Tribune - www.chronicle-tribune.com |
