Default Shriners provide dinner and presents for 50 children

MARION — Santa made his seventh trip to the Williamson County Shrine Club Sunday for the club’s Shriner Claus Christmas party.

The Shriners provide Christmas gifts for children whose names have been submitted to the “Shop With a Cop” program.

Dale McGee has been in charge each year since the program’s inception.

“We provided presents and dinner for about 50 children this year,” McGee said. “we also provided gifts for several children and families who could not make it to the party.”

A full Christmas dinner with turkey and ham was prepared by wives and friends of the Shriners and each child received several gifts from “Shriner Claus.”

Our lodge, (Onion Creek #220), in Austin has a similar program. Every year we provide holiday gifts for kids at Pleasant Hill Elementary School down the road. We provided gifts for over 30 kids this year. The school was originally housed in our lodge building.
