Default From a brand new EA

Fraternal greetings everybody, from a brand spankin' new EA. Received the Degree just last night after 6 months of "thinking about it."

I'm looking forward to taking my time with the next two Degrees, and getting as much out of the lessons as possible. What's the point of doing this if you're just going to hurry to the finish line and not learn anything from the race, right?

If anyone's offering, I'll take any advice that you have on how to get the most out of this adventure.

I do have one piece of advice for you , any questions you have concerning Freemasonry , make sure you seek out guidance from your coach/mentor and experienced Master Masons in your lodge first and foremost (though I am sure you already knew this) . But , I am not saying not to ask us any questions , just keep in mind that how we do things may not be how your lodge does things and just want you or any other new Mason to keep that in mind .

I respect the fact that you want to take your time between degrees to learn all that you can from each one . Take your time and enjoy .

Welcome to the forums, and congrats on your entrance into our ancient and venerable institution. Enjoy your degree's as you will only receive them personally once. As Ashlar has indicated, keep in close touch with your mentor, ask questions regarding anything you want to know about what you have learned thus far. Feel free to ask your questions here as well, keep in mind however that this is an open forum, and you should honor the vows which you have already sworn to. Congrats again.

Freemasonry may be traced by history and tradition, ...it is only necessary to refer to the information presented to you in a general manner. Information considered "secret" to mason's will NOT be divulged. Seek and ye shall find, Ask and it will be given you, Type and it will be posted (and most likely, answered).

Thanks guys, I appreciate the words.

I picked up Claudy's "Introduction to Freemasonry, Entered App." in the Lodge library, and it is quite a find. I understand that these little blue books have been out of print for a while, but they're seemingly excellent. If you have the opportunity to get the set and look them over, I highly recommend it... whatever that's worth coming from the "new guy."

They are great little books . You can find them on the internet that you can read right from your computer . I have all three handbooks downloaded onto mine .

Also , a great book to get after you are Raised is Robert E. Allen's "The Craft and it's Symbols" . It's only 90 pages long , easy to read and can be found on Amazon for around $9.00 . You could get it now but it goes into the symbolism of all three degrees and you wouldn't want to ruin your upcoming degrees .
