Freemasonry is to me, a way of life but more, a lodge is a place I can go to meet and converse with other like minded men who don't care what I do for a living or where I live. I had a brother tell me many years ago that he would not have met any of the men he is proud to call brothers if it weren't for Masonry. My only regret is that I didn't join when I was first able (at 18) when in passing, a friend of my father mentioned joining the local Masonic Lodge. I apparently wasn't ready yet.
I read an interesting passage this last week -- "Not all men are created with equal abilities, intellects and proficiencies but all men are created with the equal ability to use his intellect to shape his own destiny." This reminds me of what Masonry is about. You can be as active as you wish, study as hard as you want and you will get out of Masonry what you put into it.
