Default Masonic temple in Kirksville on historic places list

KIRKSVILLE -- The Missouri State Historic Preservation Office (MSHPO) added the Masonic Temple building in Kirksville to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Masonic Temple building, located east of downtown Kirksville, was erected in 1930 and contains a rare type of architecture.
“This type of architecture is what’s known as Egyptian revival” said Masonic Temple president David Powell. “There are two Masonic Temples in the state of Missouri that are in that style of architecture, the other being in St. Louis.
Dr. Cole Woodcox, a Truman State University professor, was the spearhead of the project.
