Default Home-Brewing

Greetings Brothers,

I noticed the link on the left of the homepage for the home-brewing forums. I just signed up for the forums there, but would like to see if any Brothers on this forum have some experience and advice on the matter of homebrewing beer. I am certainly not an alcoholic, but I do truly enjoy beer, and would love to take a shot at making some myself. I have no prior experience, just a few books that I have began to read. I would love some suggestions on how to get started. If any Brothers would like to help me out, I would love to hear what you have to say. I look forward to all of your responses. Thank you all in advance. Take care.

PS: If you are also a member of the BrewPlus forums, my username on there is the same as here, so please come and find me. Thanks again.

I have never brewed at home but have wanted to try my hand at it . I know a couple of guys who make moon shine , down right good moonshine at that , but that's an entirely different ball of wax .

I have never brewed any beer at home but I sure did drink a few back in college...LOL....I know a guy that makes homemade wine and I dont normally drink wine but it is very good. Most of the home brew beer I have tried was more of a dark type and I dont care much for it..... would like to try a good non dark home beer though.

I started off with a Mr. Beer home brew kit. It is an ok way to get started to see if you like it. Or you can go with a bigger, more popular setup such as this.

I made beer, wine and mead for a few years, until I lost the room when I got married. The local brew shop also closed up. I would like to start up again however. I've still got a few carboys full of mead aging.

I did it because you can create your own style of beer. I really do not know if it works out cheaper or not anymore, depending on what type of beer you drink I guess.

From there I went to wine, as you can make wine out of all sorts of things. And that lead me to mead. Mead is like wine, but made from honey instead of grapes. Takes to flavors extremely well. I love the stuff personally. It is rather rare to find around here in a store.

Thank you very much. The link to the brewing kit seems to be just what I was looking for, and at a decent price. What I want to do is build a three-tier step brew stand, complete with gas burners below the top and middle steps. I have no welding experience, and am trying to find a Brother in my Lodge who is willing to help me out with that. Due to all of the snow lately, I have not been able to safely get to Lodge this month to ask around. Anyways, I do know of a few brew shops in my area to find the ingredients. Thanks again, Jason.

Any other suggestions?
