Default National Pancake Day at IHOP benefits Shriners Hospitals

Customers at IHOP restaurants hit the flapjack-pot today — and all for a good cause.
As part of IHOP's National Pancake Day, any guest can request a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes until 10 tonight.
"We have gallons and gallons of batter ready," said Lillie Esquivel, manager of the restaurant on West Mockingbird Lane in Dallas.
As part of the event, patrons are invited to make a donation to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Last year, the benefit raised $1.5 million nationwide.
Wearing the Shriners’ signature hat, or fez, and jacket, volunteer Dick Langran encouraged customers at the Dallas restaurant to pitch in.
"We're just greeting people and letting them know that all proceeds go to Shriner Hospitals," he said.
Along with free pancakes, some locations are offering $5 coupons for donations of $5 or more.
