Default What is a decent Laptop?

I am in need of a laptop, but don't have a whole lot to spend on it. Was wondering what my options are. I would like to stay around $500 if possible.

I like my Toshiba Satellite L455 , $412 after taxes at Wal-Mart , and they get good ratings . It has 2.00 GB of RAM , an Intel Celeron CPU @ 2.20 GHz , runs Windows 7 64-bit OS with 222 GB hard drive , DVD RW . This is plenty for the average everday user , it is fast , responsive and Windows 7 is rock solid .

I swear by my Dell. Fry's Electronics has some very good deals sometimes, you just have to keep a look out. But on your budget, you should be able to find something good.

I love Toshiba laptops. Great laptops, and never had a problem with them.

I have an Acer Aspire Timeline I picked up on sale last fall from Office Max for around $550. I've not had any trouble out of it and it seems to run pretty well for me. It's easy to type on and weighs less than a pound which I like because I like to take mine with me when we go to the doctor's offices. I have a lot of eBooks on it and I can read them from it. We also use it for a DVD player for the grandkids when we go on trips.
