Default Meeting outside the Lodge

Do you meet with your Brothers outside the Lodge or any activities? Any clubs or that sort of thing?

Indeed I do, many of the Brothers has become close friends, and we get together rather often just for a chat over a cup of coffee. And my son is a mason too so we get the masonic chat over dinner once in a while...:-)

My Father-in-Law was also a Freemason and we would chat over dinner about Freemasonry and some of our chats were very cryptic because my wife and Mother-in-Law would be at the table also . It drove them crazy because of how we talked , we would use first letters as is written in our coded books , they would look at us like we were nuts . Sometimes we did it just to baffle and confuse them .

That sounds like something I would do. I may have to try it at the next family dinner.

It would be really funny if you would do that by yourself. Its funny enough when person is talking to himself, but add code-talk to that... you'll have a fun evening.

I don't think Masonry's rituals and things of Masonic nature should be discussed in front of others, despite it being "in code" or whatever, i know I'd get grilled on it by older members. That's besides the point of being plainly rude to others at the table, like everybody are sitting and listening to 2 people talking in different language.

Its not my business though, just humble opinion. I'm not an *******, i swear! lol

We have a "Masonic Club" at our lodge for non-masonic activities, we go Skeet Shooting and have Softball games with other lodges from our district, BBQs are of course something that everybody does A lot of our brothers hang out with each other outside the lodge, but some only come to the meetings.

I never stated that we were talking ritual , just that we used codes as are in our coded rituals . We were talking about the lodge and other "open" aspects of Freemasonry (which is most of Freemasonry) , which is not secret in the first place and we could have been talking regularly and it would have been fine . We were just having them on . Though frustrated , they did get a kick out of it , and that is the entire reason of it .

I talk in either towboating or Marine Corps boot camp/artillery terms all the time with the wife just to confuse her , it's not being rude , it is having fun and playing around .

Dinner Table: "Family! Attteeenhuut! PRAY!" - "This is my dinner, there are many like it but this one is mine, my dinner is my best friend...."
