Fire destroys Masonic Temple in Athens

ATHENS, Mich. (Newschannel 3) - Two historic buildings have suffered extensive damage after an overnight fire in Athens
It took nine west Michigan fire departments to get the fire under control.
The fire broke out at about 11:15 Wednesday night.
Flames could be see shooting out of the tops of two buildings in downtown Athens.
Officials tell Newschannel 3 that both the Wilson Garage building and part of the Masonic Temple were in the process of remodeling, and the village was trying to get grant money to help improve the downtown area.
The Masonic Temple was built in 1900.
