Welcome Dax, you don't have to wait to be accepted. I actually waited for years trying to see if "opportunity" arises. Then a Mason told me to find a lodge close to my home, meet the guys and apply. So i did in end of last year.

Requirement is very simple:
  • Being a man at least 21 years old
  • Having a belief in a Supreme Being. (No particular religion or faith is required, or excluded; all are welcome)
  • You must be able to afford the initiation fees and the annual dues without causing a hardship to yourself or your family.
  • You should be entering Masonry of your own free will and accord.
All you gotta do is find a lodge with people you like.

Recruiting or encouraging anybody to join is forbidden to us. So as good-hearted people we can "accept" you as a friend and a human being, but unless you make inquiries yourself, Masons wont be able to accept you as a brother officially.

I just wanted to share that, since i made a mistake of waiting for 3-4 years for some Mason to approach me with a "we decided you deserve to joins us - we need you. And i shall vouch for you with my blood and family's fortune..." line.

I wish i would've done it sooner, and if i knew better - i would've.

Check with your state. A lot have changed the age to 18. I think only a handful of states anymore it is still 21.

Agreed , ours is 18 now , changed a couple of years ago . some of the old timers were against it in my lodge , but my argument was , if the can fight and die for their country at 18 then they should be allowed to become a Freemason .

I did

Becoming a Mason / New Jersey Grand Lodge

I try to check things like that before saying out loud, but then sometimes i also talk out of my butt... LOL Rarely, but still...

If some states are 18 - great... Didn't know, but i guess its good for all the young guys eager to join.

Though personally i think 18 is a bit early. Not that everybody is like that, but i didn't know difference between thumb and an @hole, when i was 18...

Though if you can join a Fraternity in College when 18, why not Masonry, right?

EXACTLY, that's why I'm a strong supporter of 18 being a legal drinking age and also driving age, like its in Europe.

If you can get a bullet in your head for fighting for the country, why cant you have a beer before it? Not just at all.

Very true , I know 40 year olds who are too immature to drink or become Freemasons and 18 year olds who are mature enough .

Freemasonry may be traced by history and tradition, ...it is only necessary to refer to the information presented to you in a general manner. Information considered "secret" to mason's will NOT be divulged. Seek and ye shall find, Ask and it will be given you, Type and it will be posted (and most likely, answered).
