I can't believe that another school year is here. Incredible that even finding good sales the amount of money spent keeps going up. Now the schools in my city are requiring uniforms for all students in public schools. I think this is a good change. However, there is a unifor company that has the monopoly and it is making it hard for us to get the uniforms.

How are you doing with the beginnig of your school year?

Not my school year , but I am sure glad the kids are back in school , my street is so quiet and peaceful during the day now .

I figured you being a country boy you would be on several acres, and kids would be playing in the fields. That is what we used to do. Down here though most homes are on under a half acre so kids play in the street. Even worse are the kids that do not move for cars coming.

Sadly , I have had to move into town so my wife would be closer to work , it's close to a 45 min. drive one way for her , the rest of my family (except for my one brother who moved to Fla. ) lives out in the country . I only get to go out a couple of times a week and on the weekends now . And I can not stand having to live so close to other people , I have no idea why anyone would WANT to live this way but I guess it's what ever one is used too .

Yes the school year brings peace around here too. Luckily my child has a birthday right before and gets many school supplies and cloths from family! I also live in the city and hate every minute of it. It is so that I am closer to work but in a couple years we are going to sell the condo and move back to the county! I will drive the hour each way, to me it is worth it!

The only thing I can think of is price to be honest. I'm the same way, I want my acreage. The problem is, at least down here, people are asking as much as $200 a SqFt for their house if they have 5+ acres. Even 1+ acres they think they should be able to get $110 a SqFt. You can get nicer houses sometimes on a tiny lot for $70 a SqFt or less. My understanding though is KY is cheaper for land and houses, and I'm sure if we moved to another part of the state it would be too, but I'm stuck with the wife wanting a certain area. If I was single I would be in KY, TN maybe NC or SC or even WV. Even some parts of GA are nice.

What are prices of land in Ocala ? I am sure it is pretty high because of all the rich horse stables and pasture land . It was like driving through Lexington , Ky when I was there . Ocala had some of the most beautiful horse farms I have ever seen .

It's funny , you live in Fla. and want to move my way and I live here in Ky. and want to move to Florida . The only problem with that is that it is probably hard to find a house that is out by itself with no others within sight for where I want to live , near the gulf coast . The great thing about being a country boy , you can take the boy out of the country , but can't take the country out of the boy .
