Default Shriners help local burn victim & family

CHESAPEAKE, VA. (WAVY.com) -- A 9 year-old Isle of Wight County boy was transferred from CHKD in Norfolk to a Shriner Burn Unit in Cincinnati Monday. Isle of Wight Sheriff deputies say Justice Duck was home alone when a fire began in his house.
As emergency workers prepared for Duck's potentially life saving flight, a special group of people were there. It was a flight team funded by Shriners, sitting in the plane, ready for take off.
"We're hoping that our doctors will be able to treat him," says Tom Carter of the Khedive Shrine Center.
The Khedive Temple Shriners in Chesapeake are familiar with helping burn victims in Hampton Roads.
