Default Masonic Temple gets push for history

Its designer was Howard Dwight Smith, the Dayton-born architect of Ohio Stadium and the old Wittenberg University Field House.
It was finished in 1927, the peak of Freemasonry.
It remains pretty much intact today.
On Friday, Aug. 1, those three things helped the Springfield Masonic Temple, 125 W. High St., clear a hurdle to being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
