To find the gold...lol,jk. I'm not sure where I should start. Thinking probably symbolism and ritual? Ive read enough about the history of Freemasonry for now.
How did you put your Init., pass, and raising dates on your posts? Im not to familiar with forum setups
This is going to sound funny, but trust me, one of the best books I always recommend to new Masons is Freemasons for Dummies. It will give you a broad overview of a LOT of different aspects of Freemasonry as well as resources for further study. That book will give you a better idea about what aspect of Freemasonry you want to explore further. It has basic symbolism as well to give you a better understanding. It can be extremely confusing to jump into a treatise on Masonic symbolism if you have never studied anything like that. Many of the works on Masonic symbolism can be frustrating to the new Mason. As for adding info to the bottom of each post, that is called your "signature." At the top of the page, click on "User CP", then look on the left hand menu for "Update Signature." You can put words or pictures and use the formating tools to get it to look like you want. I routinely change mine to suit my mood. Hope this helps.
thanks Winter, Always there to the rescue..lol Gunna hit barnes and noble, Internet says the have the Freemasons for dummies there.
Winter is dead on this book helped me a ton as well. As a new MM there is so much to retain and try to remember Bro Hodapp does a great job breaking everything down for you.
I have always liked "The Craft and it's Symbols" by Allen E. Roberts . $9.00 on Amazon . I have read it several times and loan it out to all new Master Masons in my lodge .
Claudy's little books are good, too. You can download them for free but I forget where... I'mm figure it out and post later.
I suggest you check out the free video: "The Coaches Coach: Building Builders" The Coaches Coach on Vimeo And if you get a chance, peruse the books that it mentions: Building Builders Series of Masonic Education Books And the blog that it mentions: http://BuildingHiram.blogspot.com
I will have to second this motion..... word has it the author likes to partake of discussions on a regular basis...
Luckily any from Fireman was taken with a SPOON of salt! I have the Building Books and I LOVE THEM... the insights and history are mmm mmmm good.
