I watched a National Geographic special on one of the most deadly gangs in the world. The name was MS 13 and they are originally from El Salvador. They have 8 and 9 year old kids killing people. These guys have no remorse and it seems they are just getting worse. I found the documentary on Netflix instant to TV so if any of you have Netflix check it out.
I have heard of them and the horrible things they do. They scare me. However, what makes me more nervous is how many gangs are still out there even though the police force keeps working in getting it under control. Is there really a way of getting this problem under control?
I can't believe they have kids so young killing. Where are those kids parents? How have they lost control? I thank God that in our neighborhood there are no gangs, but at the same time, I am scared that one day it starts in our area. I wonder what can we do to prevent it.
My middle son works in Gang Prevention in the elementary schools. He says it starts with the toddlers as gang members model their little sisters and brothers. It is an unsolvable issue in a democracy. Education helps.
I watch Gangland from time to time on History Channel. Gangs are growing in America sadly. They capture kids at a young age, and some people even look up to them as a fast and easy way to money and girls.
Very scary That is a very scary thought. I hope that there is someone somewhere trying to bring that gang down. Of course there will always be another one waiting to take its place.
Whats even scarier is that some gang members are now joining the service , the Marine Corps seems to be their favorite , and learning combat tactics/training and putting it into practice on the streets .
This is awful stuff! It is really sad that these children don't even get to live life before they are trained to take it away! I live in the city close to a really bad gang overpopulated city and will soon move away to be in my happy country setting again. I will be watching this today though as I do have netflix!
MS 13 is, in my opinion, the MOST dangerous gang in America today. They are ruthless, the have no fear of anything, and they are brutal. What scares me is that they are branching out into more rural areas of the country. It's not just a big city problem any longer. Leslie: It is very likely that the kids parents are either members of MS-13 themselves, dead, or have grown to accept the "fact" that they are safer with MS-13 "protection" then they would be if they made any sort of a stink. Ashlar: They go back to their gangs and train others in the same military tactics and training they learned in the service, resulting in even more gang members with additional training. But another problem is when they PCS from one post to another, they sometimes establish a gang presence in the new community, either on post or off.
Sad story Who am I to say something? But the source of this is not the kids; it’s the foundation in missing guidance and parenthood as well as situations in countries around the world. I do believe in the good of human and every man and every woman on our earth and no human is born and programmed to do bad it is how an individual is brought up and what it faces in this important period of life. The source is much deeper.
I work for the Department of Corrections and have had alot of classes on gangs . i have talked to many MS 13 members , they indeed the worst of the worst . Yes it does start with the parents all of them say that . Grew up bad neighbor hoods and parent did not care for them .
Brothers, regarding Heinlein, I'm actually reading "Have Spacesuit - Will Travel" right now. He's a very insightful and funny guy. But in terms of gangs, and anything else for that matter, I think if there was one magic bullet to solve all our problems, it would be education.
Read RAH as a young man (12-15) and again as a 20-30yr old, haven't read him in the past few years. I might have to add him to the short list (which is 15 books deep right now).
I'm also a big RAH fan... but back to the topic at hand... The gang that scares me most right now is the "hardcore" or "straight-edge" or "FSU" gang. they don't do drugs, but they are extremely violent. There've been a few times I've run into these guys. They'll come into a rock concert and start beating people up for smoking or drinking. MS13 doesn't seem to have any sway around here, but the straight edge kids do. otherwise, around here all the "gang" stuff is bull.
Yeah, straight-edge kids have the right idea about how that stuff is detrimental to ones health, but they treat it like a religion, with this whole, "anyone who's not like me is an enemy" mentality.
Gang mentality is just that, a mentality. I have come across these fools from time to time (I work for the Border Patrol). one on one, these guys are weak. It is when they get together the bravado happens. However, i can say they are universally disliked. I know the Mexicans don't much care for them as I have had to put the MS-13 guys in isolation for their own safety.
