I go on business 2 or 3 times a year, been doing so for 15 years. The answer to your question depends a lot on what you value...

Staying on the Strip will get you a lot of hustle and bustle.

Lots of good deals if you shop around. The Wynn is a beautiful hotel and often runs special room rates. another high end "bargain" can sometimes be had at the Flamingo.

Lots of "themed" hotels there now, so if you like European flare, the Paris is nice with its French flavored walkways and shops; you can even eat crepes at an indoor side walk cafe.

If shopping is big for the boss, Caesars Palace and the connected "Forum Shops" just can be beat anywhere, although pricey, its also great eye-candy for those able to keep the wallet firmly closed. I stay there often because my boss selects it; great selection of restaurants too.

Downtown offers more of a walking experience while the Strip hotels are designed more as "destination centers" and some are actually rather hard to get out of once you get settled in.

If you can get a decent price on a room, Caesars Palace offers the most to see and do in one place, but you can see shows and eat great food almost anywhere in Vegas.

    LOL!
I am now commuting 40-50 miles 4 days a week, so I bought a 2001 Buick LeSabre which gets better mileage than my truck.

I used to go to the Vegas area every year and stayed in the cheapest place that didn't rent by the hour ;) It was Buffalo Bill's in Primm, NV. Primm is about 40 miles outside of Vegas on I-15 heading toward LA. I went there to ride kite buggies (wind powered tricycles) on the dry lakes in the desert. That's where my nickname came from. I think the room rates were around $30- per night.

While you are there, The Mandalay Bay Aquarium is very cool.

Go to the seafood buffet at the Rio to stuff yourself on lobster tails and sushi.

If you're willing to ditch the boss for an evening, the Spearmint Rhino is a haven of the fine art of dance ;)

Drop in on the kite store, Windpower Sports and say Hi to Cory jenson, the manager. If you're nice to him he might take you out for a landsailer ride on the dry lakes.

If you're into hiking or mountain biking, Red Rock Canyon is just outside Vegas and has some really nice loops. The last time I was there, I was riding a rented mountain bike next to a herd of wild horses when two A-10 warthogs flew over us at treetop level :)

There are trails to ghost towns and petroglyphs painted on the rocks.

A bit down the road in CA, there's an "Early Man Site" that one of the Leakys dug at. They think the people who lived there were pre-Clovis and possibly even Homo Erectus based on the stone tools they have found.

PM me if you want more. I've spent weeks in the area and have never felt the need to hang out in a casino.

Hmmmmm....I am all for supporting the "ART" of dancing...I am pretty sure I have helped a "dance student" or two through college;) .......firefighters are generous like that.....:D:D

I believe this trip will strictly be seeing the Vegas Strip....only gonna be there 2 days...just a little get away (from the kids....ooops sorry, my inside voice slipped out:eek:).....maybe see a show, have a few beverages....typical first time Vegas trip....

Talk at work is maybe a trip to Vegas to catch a UFC fight sometime this year.....that is when we will pay a little tuition for some "dance majors":D:D

They are not majoring in dance. They are all either philosophy or sociology majors.

The "earliest topless show in vegas" is full of the corniest jokes in the world and they make fun of all the major celebrities.

I actually had a very nice conversation with a pre-med student who was dancing her way through college. I didn't have a chance to help her out with her tuition, though.

I think we call that "contemporary American folk dancing" now.

I have heard all sorts of great stories from strippers as to why they are stripping. I am fairly certain its just a ploy to get you guys to give them your money because they are "stripping through school" or whatever they tell you. I am sure some are, but I would bet the farm the most are just stripping their way through a cocaine habit.

But they seem like such nice girls.... ;)

In all seriousness, I met the premed stripper in a coffee shop and she had her books with her. There are a few that are telling the truth.
