    Greetings, Brothers:

The time is growing nigh that a VERY CLOSE friend of mine will become a member of our fraternity. He is scheduled for a raising in early December. I have acquired a ring that I intend to present to him on that occasion.

My question: Is there a speech, or lecture, which should accompany this presentation? I have inquired of brothers-in-the-know here in Florida, and have drawn a blank. But perhaps other jurisdictions may indeed have such a traditional speech pr lecture.

What say you, Brothers? Can anyone help me?

    Thanking you in advance,

Ever heard the "Canadian Charge" aka "On Yonder Book"? If you were to recite that for the brother shortly after he was raised and then hand him the ring, he would remember it for life.

My cousin is a FC at my Lodge and if I can get him a ring I might just do that in Lodge!

I have not heard of the "Canadian Charge" before -- I like it. Thanks Windrider

It's really powerful if you can get the guys on the sidelines to chime in with the "never" lines :) I saw it delivered by a Past master while the newly raised brother was standing in the west. It was really cool.

When I was raised, a good Brother delivered the Canadian Charge and it was the first time anyone had heard it in Lodge. I really liked it and will agree if the "never" lines would be even more powerful if they were a group participation.
