“We did this for families,” said Russ Silvey of the Masonic Lodge. He said they do this to give families something to do together, besides just watch TV.

Only one canned good item per person to benefit Cooperating Ministry was the charge for the pre-Halloween celebration.

This is their second year to host the Pumpkin Clinic and there was a good turnout, according to Silvey. In the first 10 minutes, there were around 150 pumpkins gone. The room where the event was held was packed full with children of all ages and their parents.

While there were some who wore costumes, the majority did not.

There were 300 pre-cleaned pumpkins available for those attending to carve. Silvey said it took three people about four hours to clean all of them.
After selecting a pumpkin, participants selected one of the template designs provided by the Masons. While there were the Halloween designs you would expect, there were also other designs, including a Colorado Rockies template for those wanting to gear up for that night’s game.

The Masons not only provided the pumpkins but also provided the carving tools.
