SPRINGFIELD – More than 500 motorcyclists rode from Westfield to Springfield to support Shriners Hospital during the 5th annual Hospital Run Sunday.
“The run has grown every year and even with horrible rain last year we still had 100 riders and raised $25,000,” said Michael Santos, who founded the event.

Santos said the run has raised more than $125,000 in the past four years. The money is used to provide transportation for families living outside the state who have children being treated at the hospital.

“It’s a great cause and we always get groups and individuals that come out and support the run,” he said.

The Widows Sons Motorcycle Riders had close to 100 riders participating in the event this year.
