In the state of PA, masons can now pay their dues on line. the GL of Penn made a contract with Echeck Payment Processing | Payment Solutions | Debt Recovery Solutions and now every mason in the state, can pay dues on line. I think this is terrific, and I hope that other Grand Lodges will pick up on their example.
That is interesting. If you wanted to become an "Endowed Member" could that be done online as well. I don't even know if GLoP has that service. Anyone else?
What is an "Endowed Member"? I've never heard of that? And why would you want to pay dues to a jurisdiction where you're not a member of a Lodge? Use that money for your jurisdiction instead. Just a thought.
In Ohio to become an endowed member is to pay, currently, $800 and you're covered for life. No more annual dues payments. I wasn't asking to pay them I was wondering if they had the option. Maybe it's LIFETIME member in other places. There is a drawback, the lodge doesn't see the interest paid to them until an endowed member passes.
Florida it is perpetual membership. It is 20x your yearly dues, and your Lodge is get to get a set amount of funds every year, even after your retiring. You still have to pay dues until the time you finish paying off the total amount of your perpetual membership. So if you take more then a year, you still have your yearly dues. If you pay it off within a year of dues, no dues the rest of your life. Hope that makes sense.
We have the same thing in Tennessee. You can also purchase a memorial membership which continues to pay dues annually for a brother who has parted without having been a perpetual member during his lifetime.
We do have that in Pennsylvania as well. I'm not sure of the figure right now, but I know it is available. It would be life membership.
LOL For some reason I was reading it different. Wisconsin has perpetual membership as well. The multiplier is based on your age and can be paid in a lump sum or divided over three years (with interest). The nice part is that even 200 years from now your Lodge continues recieving anual dues as if you were still alive. In perpetuity. For-evah!
GLAF&AM of NC is similar to FL, but based on 21x annual lodge dues. Your Lodge will receive the same benefit after your transfer to the Celestial Lodge Above, until the charter comes off the wall. We also have a payment plan over 5 years, but the total cost is more. S&F
There's a new rule in Massachusetts for lodge mergers. It used to be that if two lodges merged they would append their names so we got lodges like "William Sewall Gardner - Killwinning Lodge" (they meet in the same building as my Lodge and are a great group). Now, lodges must come up with a new name acceptable to both sides when they merge. One group in Massachusetts is now known as "Celestial Lodge". You can imagine the jokes
They are in Westwood, MA. It's in the southeast of the state. The Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts / Membership Center / Locate a Lodge / Celestial Lodge A.F. & A.M.
