Searching for freemason ancestors

Hello to all Freemasons,

My question (I hope) is simply:

My G G G Grandfather's name was George Dunn and on his family burial site, he has the Freemason "G" symbol on our family marker. I am trying to discover if his father Francis Dunn was also a freemason and his father as well. This would give us vital information for our family tree. Is there a way for my to discover this information? Are there lists out there of freemasons? their counties, states, etc... ? Thank you all for your help and input! -Tracy

If you can determine in what state(I'm assuming you are in the US) these men were masons in, then you can contact the Grand Lodge of that state and they will most likely be able to look it up. If they were not in the US, then the national or regional Grand Lodge should most likely be able to tell you.
