Typically, in my Jurisdiction, the DDGM's have always been recommended by past DDGM's in any given District and thereby appointed by the Grand Master. As a result, in my District, there is a group of Past DDGM's who "Rule" the District. They make contact with every Grand Lodge Office and consistently maintain their circle of Masons from which all potential DDGM's are always selected. If you are not part of their "Buddy System", you have no chance of getting any appointments with the Grand Lodge at all. It wouldn't be as bad if this group of Masons were not known for having the least amount of integrity and wisdom of all the Masons in the District. Though they are known as such by the Brothers within their own Lodges and even the non-Masons within their communities, the Grand Lodge does not listen. We have tried to appeal to the Grand Lodge directly, and have even gotten the attention of our MW Grand Secretary, but this group has consistantly rubbed elbows with the Grand Line so much that we are considered insignificant. Any ideas how this could be broken? It is Soooo UnMasonic in my opinion and so frustrating!
