After making my desire to get in the line known, the Worshipful Master Elect asked me to start in the Senior Steward's chair in the South. Our Installation is tomorrow night and although I'm not looking forward to wearing a black tuxedo on a 97 degree day with high humidity in an un-air conditioned building, I am already memorizing my "lines" and looking forward to contributing more to my lodge, community and brethren.
Congrats.....doesnt it always seem to be either the hottest days or the absolute coldest when ya have to get all dressed up.....
It literally is going to be the hottest day of the year so far. One meteorologist said it will feel like 110 degrees with the humidity.
Turn the heat on in your car and when ya get out, it might not feel so bad.....I believe the term is acclimation to the heat......but be sure to hydrate...WITH water....I know this is a shocker (especially coming from a firefighter) but beer and shots dont actually count...
We were short last Monday, they kept stepping people up, I am the newest MM and I was SD. Did okay, have to work on my rod work.
Well, The evening was a little better than I had feared as there was a thunder storm that cooled things down a bit. Hot as it was, the ceremony was wonderful and it was great to see my wife and daughter so excited and supportive of me going into the line. After the Installation, the DDGM got up and presented me with a pin and certificate for the "Master Mason Rookie Award". This is not a "rookie of the year", it's an award any number of newly raised Master Masons can achieve by accomplishing a list of Masonic activities in their first year. I was the second to receive the award in my Lodge. A Brother got it last year, too. There are about 150 men now in the "Rookie Association", those who have received the award in the three years it has been available, and we will all be invited to dine with the Grand Master in December. The next day, I headed out to go camping in our Trailer for Grand Master's Fair. It was great. I manned the booth for my district for a while and then spent a lot more money than I planned. This was the only place I've ever been where you can buy Kettle Corn and a Cummerbund I got the gloves, cummerbund, and suspenders for my tux that I needed plus a present for my candidate. Lobster rolls for lunch and, of course, Kettle corn.
