I've been reading Hodapp's book Solomon's Builders... Interesting read! I've always been interested in our founding fathers. Did you know that Benjamin Franklin, arguably the most popular Mason in Pennsylvania was denied a Masonic burial? This book has an interesting twist at every turn...
I read that book over Christmas break. I really liked it. My favorite part was about the Marquis de Lafayette. I had no idea how much of an American at heart he was.
Apparently, when the American colonies went to war with Britain, The Grand Lodge of England (Ancients), refused to recognize the colonies (Moderns) for a time. Even though Franklin was a member in France as well, he was not granted the Masonic burial upon his death. I think we need to exhume the body and do it right.
As much as I agree with the idea, I could see the anti-FM getting a hold of that and now we're necromancers. I say we just put him in a Chucky doll.
Meh....I've been called worse... This one is well worth it. My wife has a Kindle. She is trying to talk me into getting my own books for it.
He's hit and miss... I've seen him around but I've never actually got to converse with him. He wouldn't even answer me on Face Book. I guess I either attempted to talk to him at the wrong times, or I'm not Masonic enough for him. Who knows. One can hope that he'll chime in. I certainly enjoy his books, blogs, and Podcasts.
I do believe he is on the injured reserve list right now...he has a serious issue going on with his eye(s)......
Started it I started Solomon's Builders yesterday. Really good read so far. I was a bit surprised by the opening scene with George Washington and the details it revealed, though.
I actually read through Hodapp's FB page he's undergoing chemo. Chris Hodapp I haven't been especially freaked out over this chemotherapy business, until today when I actually got up the nerve to look at size of the gutter nail they are driving into my chest every week. No wonder it feels like I've been shot with a crossbow. Monday at 12:19pm ·LikeUnlike (I COPIED THIS FROM HIS PAGE) My prayers go out to all of our ailing Brothers.
Most wouldn't know that because he doesn't display that information on his blog site. Only to the select that he has added to his social network page.
There are quite a few surprises in the book. I've been ever so slowly reading it. I haven't had time or the focus to do any meaningful reading comprehension lately. One day, i'll get it finished.
Bro. Gary I don't want you to think that I had betrayed WB Hodapp's trust. He made this information public recently via his blog and FB. Fb just happens to be where I found it.
Not at all! My point was that I had only read that he cancelled speaking engagements because of "illness" on his blog. If he went in to any other detail, I must have missed it. My beef with him is that he seems to communicate freely on FB, but has no problem ignoring messages or friend requests. Heck, I've even tried communicating with him on this forum and have been overlooked. It's hard not to take it personal. I would at least expect him to reply and say, sorry... not interested. I've not experienced this with other authors of the same calibre. But again, I may have fallen through the cracks and may have completely taken this the wrong way. I wish him well and good health regardless.
I can see the sentiment. I'm the same type of person in regards to "respect me enough to let me know you can't talk". I'm really looking forward to reading some of the books. I'm really working the ritual book when not reading children's stories. Has anybody read ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY? Love that book. (First name is Alex. )
