I used to live in a town that did not charge late fees for books. The nice thing was that people were usually so happy about this that they were more than happy to donate money instead. Do you have a library near you that does not charge a late fee?
No, I don't. And because my daughter tends to be very forgetful sometimes, I'm reminded quite often of their late fee's. But that's okay, she's reading.
I have always liked public libraries, but I am enjoying electronic books because it is easier to log around. I have books on tape also so my commutes are more enjoyable.
We live in a big city, so there are fees and charges for everything, including late fees for the library. However, every one in a while they have a day where they let you just return the books without and charges(kind of a "we just want our books back, please" day). I have to admit, my wife is excellent about keeping up with the borrowed books.
My home library doesn't have late fee's any longer, but the library in the city next to us does... my wife tells me I have that backwards. Its funny because my library card is good at both locations, they'll accept book returns from each other, and sometimes I'll have books checked out from both at the same time.
We live in a very rural area so we have a mobile library that stops at the end of the lane every two weeks. It comes from the nearest town where they do have fees, but as we are on first name terms with the guy who drives the library van, we rarely have to pay fees even if we do forget to return a book.
I kind of stop going to the library in my town because there is no parking and I am always on the run with no time to go around and around finding parking. However, I am always looking for books at garage sales and consignment stores.
Wow I would love it if my Library would not charge a late fee! I have paid a lot in fees due to my wife or kids forgetting they had a book.
I don't go to the library anymore because of the fees. I always would forget to return them and so would the wife. We prefer to purchase books at garage sales or thrift stores.
