I've searched and saw different threads regarding rings and I thought this could be THE end all/be all for Masonic rings. Please post any questions regarding wearing a ring, where to get a ring, ring pictures, etc...in here.
    If possible, moderators, please sticky.

I just received mine today. I had a friend who is in a jewelry guild make this for me. I chose the mold, gave him my scrap gold collected from over the years, and this is the final product. It's about 6.9 dwt 10k although he said he had to add a touch of 14k to make the whole ring. He charged me a nominal fee for labor and asked to keep the extra scrap for his other projects. All in all it was a good deal and unique. Although it's from a mass produced mold, the imperfections from the investing process are still on there. It's more of a "worn" look (as I requested).

Now I just have to wait to get raised before I have the honor of wearing it. :)

I'd love a list of recommended online jewelers for masonic rings.

I know a lot of people have said check local pawn shops (and I will), but I'd like to keep my options open.

    Thanks!

I went through Kays Jewelers for my gold dress ring instead of a pawn shop . And it is a good thing too as I am hard on rings , I received a lifetime warranty on my ring and so far they had to repair it 3 times . The S & C fell out of it , they had to refill the enamel in the working tools on the sides and I broke the band .

I have a habit of banging my ring into things or tapping it on hard surfaces when I am frustrated . I paid the same at Kay's that I would have at a pawn shop for my ring , but unlike a pawn shop (at least pawn shops in my town) Kay's backs their products .

I have since purchased a stainless steel ring for my everyday , beater ring .

When I checked pawn shops all they carried were the 32nd and 33rd degree SR rings.

I plan to go stainless from the get-go. I can't afford to drop the dollars I've seen the real bling go for.

Can anyone shed some light on jemsbyjem.com and gordonsmasonicrings.com? Both claim to make them by hand themselves, but both carry nearly the exact same stock (and pictures of their stock).

    Johnny,

You're new yet so I'll give you a friendly heads up. There is no such thing as an "end all" thread for anything in Masonry. There will be many threads after this one discussing rings and asking the same questions that have been asked a thousand times in other threads since people don't use the search function! lol

And the wearing of a ring is a very personal thing that has many different customs that vary between jurisdictions. These also will be debated and discussed ad nauseum as they always are. This is not a bad thing, just the way it is.

If you put two Masons in a thread, you will have three opinions. Hang around a little longer and you'll see.

This is true , if you look back through the threads , there are several on where to buy rings , what kind of rings to buy and how to wear one's ring . We could sticky this and someone will still come on here and start a new thread on rings .

I have a ring from GordansMasonicrings.com and love it. I do not have to worry about tearing it up in the yard, or my outdoor adventures. It has held up great, still has a shine after about a year and half (my white gold wedding band is looking dull next to it) and not too many scratches surprisingly. To me, for the money and for an every day right that I do not have to worry about, it cannot be beat.

I've had a JEM ring for about five years now and have no complaints (other than that I've been having a bit of trouble getting it on lately, but that's a problem with my finger, not the ring). I got the gold-firing that complements the emblem nicely, but it has worn off around the bottom somewhat.

I am planning on going back to Bro. Morrow for a PM ring one of these days, though -- so you could take that as a recommendation.

I ordered a JEM ring to wear once I was raised. I began wearing it and about a week later the emblem came off my ring. I contacted him and withing 2 weeks I had my repaired ring in hand. It has been almost a year and I haven't had another problem. He was extremely accommodating and easy to work with.

I got the current ring I wear from an auction our SR valley had. Paid $20 for it and it is 14k gold. Every brother there already had a ring they liked so I got lucky.

Does anyone have any experience with ProLineDesigns on Etsy.com? He's got a few designs I really like: ProLineDesigns on Etsy

I just want to know that something like that 003BB design's blue paint won't easily come off too easily.

No experience with this vendor. However, if it's paint you don't really want anything to do with it ... it should be enamel.

I was speaking from my complete inexperience and lack of knowledge. Looking at the description of the ring:

    * The curved top has a raised blue enameled emblem with a lowered background to enhance detailing.

So enamel doesn't wear as easily?
