Do you visit any theme parks regularly? Once every few years I may get an annual pass to Bush Gardens / Seaworld as its free to FL residents when you buy a one day pass at full price. Other then that, I do not go to them often. I just realized this after living in FL for about 15 years that I just only recently went to Epcot.
I used to hit Kings Island in Ohio 2 or 3 times a year . My health will no longer allow it and I miss it .
A huge theme park . It's now owned by Paramount , You can see the car from "Waynes World" there . At one time it had the largest wooden roller coaster , The Beast . Here's a link to their main web site Kings Island | Official Home Page
I've done the Florida theme parks the once, when I had family living there. It had to be done, all part of the holiday experience! They're not really my cup of tea though, too many people in one place. I'm unsociable like that!
I haven't been to a theme park since the day we were in Disneyland, about fifteen years ago, and they announced that there were a million people in the park! You had to believe it, the place was so packed you couldn't move, and standing in lines were impossible.
...and over in Hanna-Barbara Land [for the kiddies] they had the Beastie, which my wife, a roller-coaster aficionado, talked me into riding. Once. I could barely pry my fingers off the safety bar. S&F
I practically grew up at Busch Gardens and Adventure Island in Tampa. But where I really want to go is to Camlann Medieval Village in Washington! Camlann Medieval Village
10+ years ago I had a business relationship with Disney, been behind the scenes at Disneyland and was involved in the construction at California Adventure. Sample of my "operative" side...
I live less than an hour away from Kings Island and dont go...not into Amusement parks......the rest of the family goes atleast once a year....
I thought it shook too much. I had a headache for a while after. But this was a few years ago and I was about a foot shorter than I am now. I might need to give it another shot.
My wife and I have a small travel trailer that we use for about eight months out of the year. We camped in nine states last season. We went to Six Flags in Massachusetts but that's about it last year. I find them overpriced and overcrowded and would much rather go hiking or geocaching.
Travel trailer You might consider towing your travel trailer to the Outer Banks, North Carolina, when it gets warm. It doesn't have a major theme park, but it is a wonderful serene destination. We would take the pop-up out there, it was the only place my wife would camp in it! We stayed at Camp Hatteras in the Rodanthe area. A little pricey, but well kept, clean and safe. S&F
I grew up less than an hour from Cedar Point, so for years as a kid we'd go over once a month or so in summers. I've been on everything with few exceptions- everything that was extant in 1998, I've been on at least once. Things changed when I was in college, though. Old favorites got rough, to the degree that I wore a back brace for a couple days after the Mean Streak. I'd been on it six times in one day as a senior in HS, so it wasn't as if there was a massive time stretch. Mean Streak got painful, the Blue Streak and Mine Ride got painfully slow, and even old faves like Gemini and Iron Dragon slowed down. Simply not as much fun. Then my Disney-loving wife introduced me to Disney World. It's oddly perfect. The rough rides are supposed to be, but there's a smoothness even there. The smoother rides, like the Rock n' Roller Coaster, are as smooth as 25-year whisky. We go every chance we get.
Outer Banks is definitely on my "bucket List" for a camping trip. I am a kite flyer and ride kite buggies so the wind and the beach there are like honey to a bear for me. This will be the first camping season for me as a Master Mason and I'm looking forward to visiting with Brothers from all over in my travels.
I have been going to the Outer Banks for many years and I absolutely love that place . We always stay in Kill Devil Hills .
