Towcester Masons raised £1750 for local charities thanks to regular raffles. St John Ambulance Towcester and the Northampton, Daventry and Towcester branch of Parkinson’s UK were each presented with a cheque for £875 to help their funds by Dermot Bambridge Immediate Past Master of the Lodge of Fidelity at the Towcester Masonic Hall last week.
“Charity is one of the cornerstones of Freemasonry. As well as other fundraising activities, we always hold a raffle during the meals after each of our meetings”, said Dermot Bambridge, Immediate Past Master of the Lodge of Fidelity, which meets in the Towcester Masonic Hall. “Our members and visitors always give very generously and I am delighted that my chosen charities, St John Ambulance Towcester and the local branch of Parkinson’s UK, are benefiting from this."
Cheques were presented to Mrs Yvonne Reed, who runs the St John Ambulance Cadets in Towcester, and Mrs Moya McVicar, Vice Chair of the Northampton, Daventry and Towcester branch of Parkinson’s UK, formerly the Parkinson’s Disease Society.
