Servicemembers and veterans previously ineligible to receive insurance payments for some injuries will soon have the opportunity to submit claims for the Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance Traumatic Injury Protection program (TSGLI). Effective Oct.1, 2011, servicemembers outside a combat zone who suffered a qualifying injury -- such as loss of a limb or an eye -- may be entitled to $25,000 up to a $100,000 maximum total for all qualifying injuries received between Oct. 7, 2001, and Nov. 30, 2005, regardless of where the injury occurred. For more information on the Traumatic Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (TSGLI) and a complete list of qualifying losses, visit the VA Servicemembers and Veterans Group Life Insurance website and the Stand-To! Website.
