Design guidelines to preserve the historic Masonic Lodge in Millville satisfied both Western Star Lodge members and the Millville Historical Society, and were approved by the Shasta County Planning Commission on Thursday.
The two-story brick building at the corner of Old Forty-four Drive and Whitmore Road was built in 1867 and is owned by the Western Star Lodge. A single-story addition was added in 1975.
But the lodge’s membership recently decided to sell its building, which is little used and in disrepair, though structurally sound, lodge representative James Hull said. The lodge sought a zoning change, from a public facilities zone to mixed use, to make it easier to sell.
