The Widows Sons - Masonic Motorcycle Riders

Winter

I've been here before
I am leaving the Widows Sons. There are serious issues.

I am patching over to the "Ruffians Masonic Motorcycle Group"

Welcome to Facebook

If I could, I would form the first "Freemasons MC"

(PM me if you think that is a good idea!)

There's already a Freemasons RC (riding club) Freemasons RC - A Masonic Motorcycle Riding Club but I don't know anything about them. Having a Freemasons MC would be just too confusing.

Sorry to hear that you had issues with the WS.

Looks very interesting.

One way or the other, we're going to get something going here in Phoenix.

Thanks for the info Brothers

There are actually quite a few Masoinc riding orgs out there. I did look into the FMRC. But one of the things I like about the Ruffians is the Lodge you belong to is part of the patch, and there are provisions for EA's and FC's to join.

To my knowledge, no. I've said it before, I'll say it again, When we act like Masons, we don't have problems with anyone! There are a couple counties down south I believe where nobody can wear colors because of some problems, but not because of anything we did. That's just the dominant club there running the show the way they like.

Too bad they don't have a MINI Cooper club for Masons. They are a little bit bigger than the Shriner's cars but they are every bit as fun to drive. And the chicks dig them.

I was behind a Mini the other day. It had a bumper sticker that said, "You've just been smoked by a clown car."

If you ever want to see what they are capable of doing, look up "MINI vs. Porsche" on YouTube. They are deadly fast. Especially on corners. :D

YouTube - Madness MINI Cooper S vs. Porsche

Pay attention to the MINI's rear view mirror. The Porsche can't shake him, and eventually succumbs.

I am 6'3" and LOVED my Mini-cooper. I will have another one...someday.

Sorry to see Brother Winter go. We are still pushing forward with the WS Tyler's of the nine Chapter in Central WI. It will be a long fight to make the changes we want, and in the end we may end up leaving, as well...or the people against the changes will leave when we get them instituted through mass vote. Either way, the group will be what it will be.

Tom,

Yeah, and the main issue I am having with the WS isn't even the one we are having here.

The fact that the WS as an org are not properly checking out who joins and wears the patches is a serious problem for me. The fact that clandestine Masons and women Masons are permited to join and ride wearing the colors is a problem for me. I hear a lot of complaining about it, but nothing being done to correct it. And the way they set the org up means that there is no oversight or leadership. Every GC is independant, and that allows them to do whatever they want.

It's too bad, I really like the WS but I think I'd be happier with a group that maintains a little better standards in who can belong.

I also disagree with the separation of the national org from GC once a charter is issued and the final word on ALL matters being passed to them. It basically precludes growth (we both know why in our instance). It also means the first five guys set the tone for the organization within an entire state. The wrong beginning (there is no safety gate) affects the growth and membership for YEARS. That's just plain LAZY from an administrative point.

I did not realize how un-involved the main organization was until I tried to effect change. There has to be minimum standards to redress issues and a willingness to pull charters, police GC's , allow an avenue for change outside the GC of a state and pull patches...rather than worrying about an income stream from dues. I am becoming disillusioned with the group, but will still push forward to effect change.

More power to you, Brother. Holler if you need help. I came to the conclussion that I 'd rather remove myself from the Ws than cause all the bad blood between Brothers that will enevitably result from trying to change. I figure if I give the Ruffians a foothold in Wis. than Masons who ride will have a choice as to the type of org they want to ride with.

I can already see the WS here leadership trying to stop any other Masonic Riding Org in the state.

Wow. I called a brother of mine who is also a WS. He was quite surprised by this information and he assured me that this sort of stuff wasn't happening here in Wisconsin. If it is, I wanna know so I can inform him.

Let them try all they want ... they're not 'official' or anything, so there can be as many groups of Masonic riders as there are riders to join.

This has given me pause and I asked my friend to hold on to my petition . I have to think on it and may ask him to return it to me .

The Grand Chapter of the Widows Sons in France has members from the Grand Orient of France which admits atheists and women as Masons. They don't even have a bible in their lodges. :(

This is not happening in Wisconsin, but it does not reflect well, in my opinion, on the Widows Sons.

It sounds to me like there are a few possible solutions to the problem:

The Grand Chapters could organize (perhaps a letter campaign) and insist that only regular (meaning here, not clandestine) Masons be allowed in, thereby forcing the Widow's Sons in France to either tow the line or pull their patch, or ...

The membership elsewhere could just accept that France does it their way. Widows Sons (or Freemason Hall, for that matter) could choose to accept all sorts ... they are NOT an official Masonic organization to my knowledge, and as long as they do not engage in the esoteric work, then what's the difference? If they DO engage in the esoteric work, then they are and should be illegal altogether as they are outside of the Grand Lodge System.

Atheists believe, they believe in nothing.
