Is it appropriate to give a brother a gift?

I was just initiated last week and I was thinking of getting a brother a small gift as gratitude for him helping me. He was the first Mason I met and gave me a tour of the Temple, & he volunteered to be my coach. Is it okay to get him a gift? If so what would be acceptable?

Thanks

There is nothing wrong with giving a brother a gift. I would keep is to something small. There will be many brothers that will help you along the way. The relationship that you develop with your coach will be an important one.

A young man who I helped enter the Craft asked a similar question of me. I told him any single-malt scotch would be fine ;)

My mentor got whiskey, for his hard work putting up with me and my thousand questions.
