Lodge member accused of stealing from scholarship fund

SARASOTA COUNTY - Sheriff's detectives have arrested a former member of the Englewood Masonic Lodge on charges of stealing more than $90,000 from the group's scholarship fund.

Financial records showed that since July 2007, Cripps cashed checks and made unauthorized personal purchases totaling $92,563.70.

Stories like this always irk me. I leave my wallet, money clip and cell phone unguarded during Lodge Meetings knowing they will be safe. We've NEVER had an issue. That being said, Masons aren't perfect and the west gate is often unattended.

An unfortunate article. I hope there is more to it and it was some king=d of misunderstanding.
