My dog

From the other thread , I posted that I had to put my old friend (my dog) down . I talked to the vet and comes to find out that he had a stroke of all things . I honestly have never given any thought about a dog having a stroke . The wife and I are still having a hard time dealing with this , the house just seems a little more empty now . Even though I still have two other dogs , I have had Rizzo for so many years I have never thought of life without him .

My condolences for your loss. I've always found dogs passing away hard to deal with. Whoever says they do not have personalities is full of crap.

Read this when I was a kid and never forgot it.....

I wish someone had given Jesus a dog.
As loyal and loving as mine.
To sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes
And adore Him for being divine.

As our Lord grew to manhood His faithful dog,
Would have followed Him all through the day.
While He preached to the crowds and made the sick well
And knelt in the garden to pray.
It is sad to remember that Christ went away.
To face death alone and apart.

With no tender dog following close behind,
To comfort its Master’s Heart.
And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn,
How happy He would have been,
As His dog kissed His hand and barked it’s delight,
For The One who died for all men.

Well, the Lord has a dog now, I just sent Him mine,
The old pal so dear to me.
And I smile through my tears on this first day alone,
Knowing they’re in eternity.
Day after day, the whole day through,
Wherever my road inclined,
Four feet said, “Wait, I’m coming with you!”
And trotted along behind.

We are animal lovers and have many pets. It is never easy when one has to go, I lost my best old boy in June. Sounds like Rizzo had a great life in a happy home.

This poem had my wife bawling ......

Last Night

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said " it's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.

He crossed the line. This thread was about the loss of a family pet. He not only chose to post his drivel here, he also jabbed at a Brother regarding his service to our country.

He had his fun. You can have the next one, I promise. Trust me there will be more.

I got tired of looking at them, so I deleted them. Just a bunch of nonsense, nothing to see.
