1930 s Penny

My son found a 1930 s penny today and it has the Freemason symbol pressed into it. I was wondering about the significance of it. I have never seen one like this before. I did look up the coin and by itself it's worth $4.00. My son was really excited to see the symbol pressed into it, the Lincoln side of it. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank YOU. I've looked at Masonic pennies and this doesn't resemble them. It's just the symbol itself over Lincoln. You can see Lincoln Clearly even with the symbol there.

There's really nothing special about them . Take a metal die stamp with a Square and Compasses on it and hammer (or use a press) it into a regular penny and that's all it takes . I have an entire roll of pennies stamped with a Square and Compasses that was given to me by a friend (thanks Jason!) that I give to new Masons .

Other than it's age making it special , it's really just a souviner for a Mason and something neat to find for a non-Mason .
