Let's add fishing to Shriner's Fest

If anyone is looking for ways to expand participation in the 2012 Evansville Shriner’s Fest, perhaps they should consider three days of contest fishing.
The first day would be an evening outing with a bowfishing tournament. Let the Downriver Bowfishermen set this one up along with rules and regulations. Have a reasonable team entry fee with an 80-20 payback to top teams.
Winners would get 80 percent of the entry fees while the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital would get 20 percent. This is a win-win situation and the event could be launched from the River Walk.
Park those floating light ships along the launch area so the public can see what they look like. Make everyone fully light their boats up as they launch and let the bowmen go shoot carp, gar, shad, grindles, drum and any other rough fish species.
After weigh-in give the catch to anyone wanting good garden fertilizer or pet food. If conditions are right there will be piles of trash fish for disposal.
