...So...is there a connection between the Corps and Masonry? Somewhere in my wandering past [path?] I heard that all early Marines were Masons, or joined Masonry soon after joining the Corps.

And...would that have had anything to do with the reluctance of the Corps to accept the dictum in WWII to train black Marines? ...Leading to 'Montford Point?' ...since early Masons would not recognize black Masons...?
I could accept that ingrained societal racism was the cause of both, but my mind is just wandering this afternoon.
