I've only heard rumors of them but never seen any proof of their existence. Has anyone ever visited a Mark Lodge? That being a lodge/chapter that only operates in the MMM degree. I think it would be interesting to visit one.

    RoughAshlar,
The only time this has ever happened that I am aware of is during the conferring of the MMM degree, Although it would be up to the High Priest as to whether to operate in the MMM lodge. It would be similar to the Worshipful Master conducting business in the Entered Apprentice lodge.

    Mark Master Lodge

I am a member of a Mark Master Lodge. It meets every month and opens only for business. I found out about it through one of my York Rite mentors. Its really cool to go, although not as involved as Blue Lodge (obviously).

I knew I wasn't crazy! Are there many Mark Master Lodges around?

    Thanks.

It is really interesting how different countries break up the degrees.

Sorry I haven't responded before now. Rough Ashlar, the only one I know of is in Ohio. There are probably more than one in Ohio, since there is probably approval from a grand body. However, I'm a new "member" of this Mark Lodge, and am unsure of all the details.

BTW, I was incorrect when I last posted. We meet six times a year. If you know Mark Master, there is no surprise, although sitting in an open lodge for business and not work is actually quite interesting. Plus, the fellowship is genuine and feels "elite".

    (Mark Master Lodge Meeting)

I found out at last night's meeting that we are the third lodge in the state, and the fourth has only been established for a year. MMLs are governed by the Royal Arch, and have to report to the GHP, etc.

Pennsylvania has Mark Master Lodges but I believe there are only two and they are by invitation only.
