Whats in my head is mine and I can do with it what I want. Whats in the computer is the states and I have to follow their rules.

Yes, the GL of New Mexico does. In fact I was the first petitioner of our Lodge required to do it. It added $15.00 to the EA fee.
After the petitioner's committee looks it over it is given to the petitioner and never spoke of again. The other members of the Lodge never see it.

I have a couple of judges as members in my lodge and they have made the same statement as you Goomba , members seem to think they can go to the courthouse and do a background check on petitioners for us . They stated that they can and will get into trouble doing this as it is illegal .

I paid, I believe, $20 dollars for a background check when I petitioned. I asked why and they said because it was GL policy. We all thought it was amusing however because on the day of my petition, I had been 18 for 3 days :D
