At a yearly gathering of over 1100 Freemasons from all over Missouri, Brookfield resident and Linneus native Gail Turner was promoted to the highest rank in the Grand Lodge, that of Grand Master. This eight-year journey to the top seat has seen Turner serve the Fraternity, as well as his community and State, since becoming a Freemason in 1977.
“Each lodge in the state is expected to attend for election of state officers, review legislation, receive committee and officer reports, present service awards, listen to guest speakers, and just have time to visit with other Masons,” explained Turner. “In addition to the 1118 Masons attending from 335 subordinate lodges, there were 29 distinguished guests from eight different States, and nine members of the Grand Lodge of Prince Hall Masons of Missouri.”
Anyone who knows Gail Turner knows that he is not one to pat himself on the back, and this occasion is no different. Turner credits Freemasonry itself for his success, not only in the l-odges across Missouri, but in his personal and professional life as well. “Masonry helps us to be better parents, spouses, and public servants,” said Turner. “It motivates us to simply be better men.”
