French Priest sacked For Masonic Membership

A French Catholic priest has been sacked for being a Freemason in the Grand Orient of France.

GRENOBLE, France - A Catholic priest at the posh French ski station of Megeve has been stripped of his functions at the request of the Vatican for being a member of a Masonic lodge, his parish said on Friday, May 24.
Father Pascal Vesin of the Sainte-Anne d'Arly-Montjoie parish was ordered by the bishop of Annecy, Yves Boivineau, to halt his functions due to his "active membership" of the Grand Orient de France, a large Masonic organisation.
A statement from the parish said the move had been "made at Rome's request."
It said the bishop had asked Vesin earlier to forsake Freemasonry, which he had refused to do.
In March, the Holy See's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith asked for priest's departure. Three members of the diocese of Annecy then met him but Vesin said he would not quit his membership of the Lodge.
Freemasonry of all types -- regular or irregular, legitimate or "diverted" -- has been condemned by many popes.

I am not surprised, but it does seem the Roman church gives mixed messages about our Craft.
On the local level, there is obvious ignoring of communing catholics who are Masons. A recent past master of my lodge is active in the church, and my good friend I visit in the nursing home was raised catholic and still considers himself a good one.
It's funny, too, that they condemn us because we are not governed by the Church of Rome (or any other denomination), but ignore other laudable organizations such as scouting for boys and girls, even chartering troops by their churches!
One of the other denominations I am acquainted with doesn't like Boy Scouts, because they admit non-Christians. They have their own youth organization. At least they are honest and consistent.
Just musing on a Saturday morning...

Misinformation from the in place power structures are common. Freemasonry crosses national, political, religious, racial, and economic strata. That is a dangerous thing to people who wish to control a populace. It is no small wonder that we are under a microscope. Imagine the power if Freemasonry WERE a political organization!

It is no shock to know that totalitarian regimes at all spots on the political spectrum have suppressed our gentle craft, which teaches Friendship, Morality, and Brotherly Love. It seems to be antipolitic to tolerate views and voices different from your own, therefore, we are a threat to those who reach for power.

Isnt the grand orient de France the one who doesnt require a belief in deity or a vsl?

If this is the case, the Catholic church was in its right to do so. Yet another inflammatory ignorant copy and paste by James. Do some research on the fraternity before you post something like this. And please stop copy and pasting articles from other websites.
