The November 8 meeting will not be a regular meeting but will be a Festive Board. Unlike our traditional Table Lodge, the Festive Board is open to anyone and will not include any of the secret words, signs or ritual. No coat or tie is needed. The menu will include West Virginia Hot Dogs (chili, onions, and slaw) with other side dishes, Killian's Irish Red, Coors Light, soft drinks, and a commemorative Masonic beer mug. The guest speaker is the world renowned S. Brent Morris. Bro. Morris is the author of the "Complete Idiot's Guide to Freemasonry", "Freemasonry in Context: History, Ritual, Controversy", "A Daily Advancement in Masonic Knowledge" and many others. Bro. Morris is Director of Membership Development and Managing Editor of The Scottish Rite Journal, Supreme Council 33°, S.J. He was the first American to be elected as the Worshipful Master of Quatuor Coronati Lodge, the oldest Masonic Research Lodge in the world. Dr. Morris holds a PhD in Mathematics from Duke University and served as Executive of the Cryptologic Mathematician Program at the National Security Agency and as U.S. representative to the International Organization for Standardization in the area of computer security. He has taught mathematics, computer science, and cryptanalysis at Duke University, Johns Hopkins University, and the National Cryptologic School. If you have ever seen a television program about Masonry, such as on ABC, History, National Geographic, or Discovery, then you saw Bro. Morris speaking.

Please RSVP to the Secretary by Sunday, October 31 to ts53@verizon.net or call 301-790-2638 so that we have enough seating, food, and commemorative Masonic beer mugs for everyone. The cost is $15 per person and can be paid at the door.

Directions at Hagerstown Masonic Temple

That sounds interesting, it does lead me to one question though. My lodge in PA and all under the jurisdiction of PA GL are "dry" meaning no alcoholic beverages are permitted. Is the state of MD different? or is this an actual "non-masonic" function. Just asking is all.
Thanks,
