Hi all, let me crow a little bit here. I have just rewired our telephone and internet to a new digital socket and our speed has increased from a lousy 1.5Mbps to a massive 5.5 Mbps. My husband didn't think I could do it but he is really pleased I did as he wasn't keen to try it himself!

That is great. Did you replace the cat wiring? What version did you go with?

Um, no I didn't have to replace any wiring. I live in England and the monopoly on telephone wiring is held by British Telecom who said they would charge me £200 to send an engineer to replace this socket. I bought an NTE5 digital socket on Ebay for £5 and it took around 20 minutes to change it. I feel so smug!

Wow, you have a reason to be proud. I can barely plug things let alone trying to rewire anything. Saving the money is wonderful also. I hate how the companies charge you even if it is just for the repairman to look at it.
